So, here they are! The color pics of August’s Churro Club yarns! This month was completely chile-inspired… from a Chimayo red to a Habanero orange to a Hatch green and followed up by a Blue Corn blue (dyed over black yarn!)… what better than blue corn tortillas to complement a beautiful pallet of chile! These were really some of our favorite Churro Club yarns so far!

Moving On by Skaidrite McKeag, original handwoven tapestry, 26.5" x 37.25", hand-dyed wool and silk

Moving On by Skaidrite McKeag, original handwoven tapestry, 26.5″ x 37.25″, hand-dyed wool and silk

Notes on this piece…

Moving On was entitled because of what was going on in my life while I was creating it. During that time, three significant people to me, passed away. It felt disorienting. While weaving, I felt I was just moving on. I like the three dimensionality of the piece.” – Skaidrite

12 Lorelei Loveless Weaving Southwest

Blanket #060 by Lorelei Loveless, 39″ x 66″, New Zealand Romney wool and Churro wool

Notes on this piece…

This is piece was woven using odds and ends, left over from various other projects.

Our Medium Weight Churro is the warp and the weft is our Rug Yarn.

When combining different weights of yarn in the weft, edges can get a bit wonky, as you can see. But it has a beautiful drape and makes for a wonderful, hardy blanket!

You can see more of Lorelei’s current work here.

Enjoy!

Haiku: Sunlit Hill in Autumn by Skaidrite McKeag, original handwoven tapestry, 30.5″ x 39″, hand-dyed wool

Notes on this piece…

Inspired by Haiku’s traditional poetry format of 3 lines consisting of 5-7-5 words. It also often refers to seasons. The colors represent those seen on a hillside going up to the Santa Fe ski area on October.” – Skaidrite
