I only had 50 pounds to dye today, but with dark colors comes large amounts of dye in the recipes. With our sequential method of dyeing I was able to transition quickly from three light colors- Wheat, Cantaloupe, and Mauve, to darker ones like Cerulean, Terra Cotta, Pumpkin, Ruby A, Yucatan, Shamrock, Emerald, Chargreen, Mahogany, and Black.
I had measured my yarn and calculated the recipes the night before, so I was ahead of the game in the morning. Yet, my first yarns didn’t get into the water till 11am (I have an almost three year old to feed, bathe, dress, and get to her learning center!). I was able to wrap up the day at 5:30 with all pots clear and 13 dye lots complete.
I hope you are enjoying these notes! Please let me know what you would like to see/hear more about by leaving a comment (the link is above this post). Thanks!
